Garrapata Bloom

Spring along the fog swept coastline of Big Sur comes late in the summer. Coast buckwheat, dudleas, calla lilies and a variety of other flowering plants come to bloom at this time as well. It is a stark contrast to the harsh jagged cliffs that suffer the continuous pounding of the Pacific Ocean. Juxtaposed to one another both the delicateness of the flowers and the jaggedness of the cliffs seem to stand out more than if looked at alone. Instead of competing for the attention of onlookers, they actually compliment each other. Their strength is in their diversity. Would we only learn that for ourselves.
