It was an amazing year for wildflowers in southern California, especially in the Gorman Hills where this scene was photographed. It was Easter day and I thought the hills would be empty, wow was I wrong. It was impossible to photograph these hills without getting another photographer in the frame. The hills were packed with people. So I put away my wide angle lens and crossed Hwy 5 and pulled out the 400mm and started to pick out portions of the hills. Who would have thought to use a long telephoto lens for landscapes. I used it the res of the day and concentrated on composing with the lines of the hills and the amazing colors. The slightly overcast sky provided the perfect lighting to remove any glare and allow deep saturation of the colors.
