Unbewildered

A thicket of moss and lichen covered oaks in winter is a striking sight to see. With their bare branches reaching out in every direction, they weave a visual confusion that is unsettling to the eye as it finds no place to rest. A rock grounded in a small patch of young tender grass on the other hand, is calming and reassuring of certainty, easy to look at and enjoy. Two themes that contrast each other in the same scene is not unlike life in our modern world. If we focus on the commotion that takes place in the world, we become confused and unsettled just as when we look at these branches. However, if we focus our attention on the firm and unmoving presence of The Sustainer of all things we find our heart coming to peace and our mind becomes unbewildered.
