Blue Morning

Wandering the Eastern Sierra Nevada is a lonely endeavor. The mountain peaks tower overhead and the sagebrush stretches for miles on end. The air is silent and one can easily become lost in one’s own mind as well as literally out in the wilderness. At times it brings a sense of worry and anxiety. However, in the deep canyons of these mountains the morning light, rich with the blue tones of the sky, dances among the sage and desert buckwheat covered in a hoar frost from the evening’s sub-freezing temperatures and enthralls the eyes. Slowly, the intricate patterns and the interplay of light and shadow whittled away at the heart until it is filled with ease and tranquility. That is the blessing of the natural world – its ability to bring the heart to a state of serenity.
