Sunrise with Tom
Under the big sky country of the Eastern Sierra, the sun rises on Mt. Tom and its neighboring peaks of Basin Mountain, Mt. Humphries and Mt. Emerson each peaking above 13,000 feet above sea level. At the foot of these monoliths and under the vastness of the sky, one begins to understand just how insignificant in size we truly are in this world; in this universe. Yet, it has been man, among all the creatures of the earth, that has been given the divine attribute of not only knowledge, but also the attributes of strenght, determination, and a limited will that has enabled us to literally conquer the mountains. Strange it is that even as small as we are, we can achieve such great things.
