A far cry from the majesty of the Oaks or from the regalia of the Redwoods or from the grandeur of the Mountains or from the power of the Ocean, the desert is in its own way very sublime. The appreciation of the desert comes only after spending much time in it. With its sparse vegetation and extreme temperatures, it leaves a person with not much more than one’s self. But it is in that very environment that one begins to understand the nature of this world. It is in that place that one starts to gain the wisdom that is so badly needed in the world today. Only among the old, withered, tried and true sagebrush can we find answers that keep us grounded in a world that is all to easily caught up in the capricious winds of folly and delight. And for those who understand this, the sublimity of the desert, and its lowly sage, overshadows all else.
