Farewell Ramadan

The last waning phase of the moon during the blessed month of Ramadan hangs in the dawn sky. A month in which Muslims from all over the world abstain from food, water and marital relations for an entire month during daylight hours. It is also a month in which the focus is inward to rectify and purify the heart and to reconnect with the Creator by increased prayers and supplications. It is a special time that is relished and when it appears to be nearly over, an unusual sadness fills the heart with thoughts and hopes of having the good fortune to live for one more year to see it come once again.
