Anticipation

The 8th month of the Islamic year is known as Sha'baan. It is a month of great hope and anticipation. The commencement with this moon heralds the hopes of forgiveness for on the eve of mid month is a time when any of God's creation can seek out forgiveness, as it is a time when all sincere prayers are answered. It is also a month that brings anticipation for the month of fasting known as Ramadan, where we practice self-control and learn how to discipline our desires for worldly things. Who would have thought such a thin crescent could convey so much?
