The land of Utah is mysterious and amazing. Forming the northern portion of the Grand Escalanate, or Grand Staircase. It is a series of cliffs and plateaus carved out by wind and water erosion making up the southwest portion of the Colorado Plateau. In fact, most of Utah is also on the Colorado Plateau a dry ancient lake bed that was lifted to elevations above 8000 feet by tectonic events occuring in prehistoric times. The land of Utah is best known for its red rock and the alluring shapes carved out of the sandstone that makes up its landscape. A lifetime can be spent studying and capturing images in that land.
