WINTER MESSAGE
--------------
Winter is a quiet time that fosters reflection. It is, for us dwellers of the northern hemisphere, a season of being indoors most of the time due to the harsh and inclement weather. A time of gathering thoughts. A time of being with family. A time for looking forward and hoping for better than what we had in the past. This winter, however has been especially reflective as we watched in horror the multitudes that were washed away in South East Asia. Most of us probably didn't know anyone lost in that tragedy, yet somehow we were all effected by it. And although the waves that swallowed the coasts of South East Asia were not weather related, they most certainly were natural and we can't help but shudder at the thought of awesome power and strength that God instilled in nature and the inability and weakness in us. The awesome and destructive power that God instilled in nature is only rivaled by the compassion and mercy that God instilled in us as we all turned to the aid of the survivors. A lesson that we should take to heart as the new year unfolds. The triumph of compassion and mercy. In fact compassion and mercy are the stamps of the creation and all around us we always see these two coming to triumph in the world, sometimes quietly and sometimes boisterously. So let's do what we can and foster compassion and mercy with everyone we meet this coming year, as in the end we all owe it to ourselves and our fellow brothers and sisters in our human family.

The new year, 2005, here at Organic Light Photography will bring about some great new things that have been a long time coming.

***Organic Light Photography - Nature Photography Workshop April 2-4, 2005***

It has been a long time coming but you have all been asking and now I am answering. This coming Spring I will be holding the First of what hopefully will be an ongoing 2 1/2 day Workshop. Tentatively Scheduled for April 2-4, 2005 I will be holding a workshop on the basics of Nature photography. If you ever wanted to learn how to photograph the natural world, how to see the world through the lens of a camera, how to capture the beauty in the world and share it with other, well now is your chance.
The workshop will cover:
Day 1: 9 am to 6 pm with a one hour lunch break
1. Camera Systems and Operation
2. Exposure
3. Lens Selection
4. Additional Camera Accessories
5. Image Capture (Film vs. Digital)
6. Lighting
7. Composition
8. Field Tips
Day 2: Meet at 7 am, travel to location and photograph till sunset.
1. A Full Day Photographic Field Trip
Day 3 5 pm to 9 pm, including one hour for dinner.
1. An evening Recap and Photo Critique Of Images Made on Day 2.

Cost for the workshop is $225.00, and includes all instruction and meals.

2005 ART SHOW SCHEDULE

This year's art show schedule is starting to shape up nicely. Already confirmed is the Marin Art Festival on June 18 and 19. Other shows, pending acceptance, is Stanford Spring Affaire in May, San Anselmo Art Festival in June, Tahoe Arts Festival in July. And ongoing The Campbell's Farmers Market, in downtown Campbell. Keep an eye out on the Events Page, on the website for further and up to date news on where you can see Organic Light in Person!

The events of last month following the tsunami disaster in South East Asia has devastated the lives of so many thousands of people and families. Thousands and thousands of young innocent children have become totally orphaned by the undiscriminating water. I am calling upon you, my patrons and supporters to lend a helping hand. For each photo, subscription, or image licensed from now until March 31st 2005, 10% will be directed to the UNICEF Children's Fund to help those orphans of the tsunami disaster. Please help me to help those poor children whose lives will never be the same again without their parents. They need our help, Please help me to help them. Thank you.
